Chilly Friday

Busy busy busy and a lack of desire to compose. The past eight days included having Em down here for an overnight last Thursday into Friday. Pictures below show her playing in the dirt and mess created by the installation of the 500-gallon propane gas tank. She had a ball!

Monday I had Ember again, at her house.

Tuesday Ron and I went to the nutritionist at the nephrologist’s office. Ron’s kidney function is decreasing rapidly, and he’s now on a diet that restricts protein. He’s being mostly successful at keeping protein to no more than 60 grams a day. That may sound like a lot, but an ounce of meat has 7 grams of protein, which means a simple 4-ounce hamburger with roll (another 4 grams of protein) is more than half a daily allotment of protein. He’s given up cheese and milk and cut way back on the amount of meat he eats. It all kind of sucks, but less protein eases the burden on his kidneys of disposing of the waste.

Wednesday was a “free” day for me. I never left the house. What a joy!!! I did some cleaning. I puttered around. I did laundry. I ironed. I read. I played computer games. I exercised.

Thursday was an Ember day.

Today is Friday. I’m home but it’s a big cleaning day and errand day. There’s the bank, the store, recycling and a hair cut. This afternoon we’re going to Schoharie to see the soccer game of one of Ron’s grandkids.

Tomorrow I’m picking up Cara and we’ll go the annual Big Brothers Big Sisters of the Capital Region picnic. I haven’t seen Cara since June and as usual am feeling guilty about it.

Next week…. Ohmygoddddd.. next week is so busy I get tense thinking about it.

Monday Ron sees the urologist.

Tuesday I have Ember

Wednesday Ron sees the cardiologist.

Thursday I have Ember

Friday I have a dentist appointment to attend to a tooth I broke last weekend.

Saturday the 27th, we’re going to Pennsylvania to visit Ron’s daughter and her family. We’ll return Monday the 29th and then the very next day is an Ember day for me.

I am exhausted in advance thinking about it.

Cute Ember saying: While sitting at the table after lunch on Tuesday at Em’s house, the doorbell rings and Ember says, “Pizza’s here, Grandma!” LOL

Yesterday when Tony picked her up after work he asked, “How was your day, Em?” She replied, “I had a bad day. I hit Grandma and she got really mad at me. I said I was sowwy.” And indeed she did have a moment or two in the morning when she as very naughty. It was time to leave the playground at The Crossings in Colonie, and Em did not want to go. Oh wellll….had to go anyway, and in her anger, she started flailing around, the result being she did hit me. I had to drag her to the car, crying and protesting very loudly. It was unpleasant.

Gotta get back to work. The vacuum cleaner is calling me.

Gas prices - They're on the rise. :--(

Exercise - I've been doing a lot with Leslie Sansone walking DVDs and can tell the difference in how my jeans fit.

Today's weather - It's chilly today but sunny. Summer is definitely over, though we may still have temps in the low 70s next week.

Life changes - Ron and I go along feeling good about his health and then we're hit over the head with the reminder that his kidneys are failing. Dialysis is looming on the horizon and that surely will be a life change.
