Hot Summer Day

Today was GROCERY SHOPPING day. The task deserves all caps because it is a production, albeit not on Broadway. It’s 35 minutes to Catskill, where I went to Wal-Mart. I’m not fond of Wal-Mart, but I am fond of its prices. One can save serious money on certain items. After that it was a 4-block drive to Price Chopper where I picked up everything else, from meat and veggies to certain dairy products. The 2-1/2 hours shopping was followed by the 35-minute ride home and then schlepping the bags into the house. Thankfully Ron was here and did most of the work. Of course, one can’t leave 25 bags around the kitchen floor so the adventure of putting away a month’s worth of groceries soon began. I have to be careful not to put something somewhere just cause it fits but not remember where I put it.

Our new Dish receiver stopped working today. It provides the picture to the TVs in the TV room and the kitchen. I’m OK not having a TV but Ron is going through withdrawal. He needs to have it on, even if he’s not watching it. Luckily the TV in the bedroom is working on the old dish receiver so he’s upstairs. I can’t be bothered.

Today’s is Maureen’s 66th birthday. How is it my sister got to be that old? LOL

Gas prices – Paid $4.239 at Greenville Cumberland today. Prices haven’t gone up much in 2 weeks. Shhhhhhhhhhhh

Today’s weather – Hot, humid, sunny. It’s SUMMER!!

Life lessons – I’m still torn about shopping at Wal-Mart. I do not like the store. I do like its way of treating employees. I do not like super big, super rich companies that pretty much do what they want. But here I am, shopping at a place I swore I’d never step into. It won’t surprise me if my principles eventually defeat my desire to save money and I again return to not shopping there.
