Wow, it’s been quite a few days since I’ve written. Some days there is no extra time; not even the 15 or 20 minutes it take to write.
I had Ember down here Monday into Tuesday. She had a real good time. So did Ron and I. Em loves the new swing Grampa Ron hung in the tree. It’s a ‘big girl’ swing and once on it, Em’s ready to swing for 30 or more minutes at a time. Works for me.
While Em was here we fed the ducks and geese at the town pond and also went to the playground in Norton Hill. There were two other children there, both around 2 years of age, and as usual Em was happy with “da kids” for playing.
Our other activities included blowing bubbles, kicking the ball around and playing in the sandbox. Sometimes I just sat in the chair and watched her play. It’s good for her to entertain herself without adult intervention.
Em saw her first deer yesterday when one wandered through the backyard. She wasn’t impressed. LOL To her it was an animal who wouldn’t stand still long enough for her to approach. I still love it when deer come through the yard. When she’s older she’ll realize that not everybody has deer in their backyard, especially people like her who live in a city.
Obviously the pics in the above post were taken while she was here. It’s difficult to get pictures of her straight on because she’s always so busy doing things. And she won’t smile on command.
Today I’m packing for our trip to Texas. Flying is a real pain in the neck. This can go on the carry on, but not that. Or that can go on but not this. It I weren’t afraid of luggage being lost or delayed, I wouldn’t even bother with a carry on.
Tonight I’m meeting the girls from Banking for our monthly supper out. It’s going to be quick and cheap. We’re meeting at The Fountain for pizza and a beer.
Tomorrow we leave home at 6:30 AM to get to the park & fly place and then shuttle to the airport. Our plane leaves at 9:30 and goes to Philly. From there, we fly to Dallas/Fort Worth.
Exercise – Running around after Em the past two days; plus a good long walk last evening after she left. Today I’ve been up and down stairs, including down to the cellar for laundry, at least 20 times. Tomorrow I’ll do a lot of walking in the airport because I get antsy just sitting and waiting.
Today’s weather – After two beautiful days with sun, temps in the high 70s and beautiful blue skies, today is yucky, as Em would say. It’s in the low 60s, overcast and sometimes rainy.
Life lessons – Little ones teach great lessons. Enjoy swinging. The sandbox sand feels “good to my hands, Gramma.” Ants don’t bite (so Em tries to convince herself). Kick the ball. Share hugs and kisses. I taught Em a lesson: Dragonflies are our friends because they don’t harm us and they are lovely to see. The macro lesson is Enjoy Life!
