A Beautiful Day With Ember

Today was a gorgeous day! Sun, blue sky, temp in the lower 60s.

Ember and I went shopping for clothes for her. It’s almost impossible to find what I call play clothes for little girls. There’s white and pink and light blue pants and cutsie little shirts with pretty little things on them. They’re all nice, but when your little girl – or grandgirl – likes to play in the dirt, pick up a ball and toss it, slide down the slide on her belly and generally play hard, we need blue jeans, not light-weight cotton pants that will rip the first time she lands on her butt going down the slide. Besides, it’s still too cold for summer stuff. I also wanted regular t-shirts that will withstand dirt and muck and wash clean. K-Mart had nothing.. absolutely nothing. Target, for a change, did have a couple of pants that will be fine: jeans in blue and beige. They're heavy enough for this time of year and sturdy enough so Em can play and run and fall down and they’ll withstand the abuse.

Our shopping expedition took place about 9 AM. We were home by 10 and shortly thereafter, Em was in the wagon, and I was pulling her to the park. She played – hard play – for 90 minutes. She had a ball.

For the first time, Em climbed out of her crib this past weekend and her mom and dad rushed out to get her a toddler bed. What a surprise that was. It’s cute. A Dora bed. Nap time today was interesting. She got out of bed four times to play – and I don’t blame her since all her toys are right there in her bedroom. Each time I came into the room, she jumped and ran back to bed. The last time she stood there and said, “I pooped, Gama.” With a very stern face and voice I changed her, told her she had to lay down and not get out of her bed, and she did, sleeping for 2.5 hours.

Ron’s not doing very good today. He overdid it yesterday and today and is now paying for it. His ribs and back are hurting big time. Right now he's downstairs in the recliner napping with a heating pad.

Today was the day for surgeries. Ron’s brother-in-law (from late wife) had heart bypass surgery. They replaced 5 arteries. He is fine. My eldest sister had intestinal surgery. Nine inches of intestines were removed. Though her surgery was early this morning, my brother-in-law has not yet called me to tell me the outcome or prognosis. I am not pleased.

Today’s weather – It was a gorgeous day. Sun, blue sky, slight breeze, temp in the low 60s. We could wear spring jackets and be comfy!

Life lessons - Life is always in flux and relationships are always changing, though the changes are often so subtle it's not noticed for years.
