Beautiful Day!

Spring is sprung, or at least winter has taken off its coat. Either way, today is a beautiful day. It's sunny and the temp reached 60. There is a good breeze, but it's welcome because it's still pretty wet from all the rain we had.

I spent about two hours raking and picking up branches this afternoon. The work felt so good. I love being outside. I love cleaning up. I was in the mood and felt well enough to do the work, a combination that guarantees success.

Ron's got the neatest wheelbarrow. Maybe it's common, but until I came here, I'd never seen one. Instead of having one wheel in the front, it has two close together so that the likelihood of it tipping over is greatly reduced. Even I can push it, and it's very big. I filled it with leaves from the top terrace and dumped it back in the woods.

I raked out the two flower beds by the clothesline, then I started walking the backyard picking up branches that had fallen or blown from the trees during the winter. Before Ron can mow, all the branches -- and some of them are pretty big -- have to be taken up. I also raked the flower bed at the back of the house and some of the lower terrace with the daffies.

The work and sun got me hot enough that I took off my sweatshirt and rolled up the sleeves of my shirt. The sun felt so good on my skin.

It's been a very busy day. Did some spring cleaning in the kitchen; ran errands around town; and made spaghetti sauce. I had a made a major mistake in the baby blanket I'm knitting and had to rip out four rows. I've had hardly any computer time and that will be more common as the weather improves.

Ron's still hurting from the fall he took 11 days ago. He is much better but still can't sleep anywhere but on his back, which causes his back to ache after a long time. He can't lift or do other things, which, frankly, I miss!

Right now Ron's working with Columbia-Greene Trout Unlimited helping to stock local streams and creeks with trout. I don't imagine he's actually doing much of the physical work because of his ribs, but he'll be having a good time outside hanging with the guys.

Tomorrow I have Miss Em. I haven't seen her in exactly one week and she has been missed!

It's just about time to make the cole slaw for supper. I'm doing a simple supper tonight: sloppy joes and cole slaw. That's enough protein and veggie for me.

Today's weather - Spring has sprung. The temp outside the house reached 59.6 degrees. The sun has shone most of the day and though there is a good breeze, it's still nice.

Life changes - There is nothing more obvious a life change than the poignancy of a change in seasons. Winter to spring is a change full of hope, as that which has laid dormant for months comes to life, some so fragile, such as the small crocuses, and some pretentious and bold, such as the magnolia tree. Season changes also mark another era of one’s life. So many springs have gone by, and there are so few left in comparison. It's very moving.
